14 year old girl authors book
ABBOTTABAD: By authoring a book titled “Insignia of Democracy” at the age of 14, Saria Benazir has become one of the youngest writers of the world on a complex topic of politics.
Born in Banda Pir Khan, a small village of Abbottabad district, she has extraordinary accomplishments. The book of 600 pages speaks of her commitment to a democratic Pakistan. In an informal chat with The News here Sunday, her family members said Saria had always remained a topper in her school, Pakistan International Public School and Girls College, Abbottabad, where she studied till O Levels. She did her A Levels from the Beaconhouse Schools System, Margalla Campus, Islamabad, and managed to score an A+ in History and A in Law.
She is the first and only child from such a remote area to have done A Levels. Highly impressed with former prime minister late Benazir Bhutto, she added Benazir to her name and is now known as Saria Benazir.
As a young political activist, she challenges the myth that the youth are depoliticised. She was the youngest of the 30 students selected for the Youth Leadership Institute of Pakistan in 2011. Her presence and the zeal with which she participated in the conference was widely acknowledged.
Showing her articles published in national dailies, she vowed to continue writing on various issues. Saria Benazir’s skills as a student journalist have placed her way ahead of her contemporaries. Numerous of her write-ups about democracy and human rights issues have been published in the newspapers, websites and blogs.
